From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, demons, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the secret base, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as important members in House Halovar could help the party enter places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them little choice but to head to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Seekers and Strategists tables.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which players will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
