Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state initial examinations show the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; investigators are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they stated.
City officials stated they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the community for information.
A senior official said the vandalism made him without words and needed to be solved quickly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the death of nine people by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
